United Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT). A joint collective bargaining agreement was ratified in December 2016 and will extend through December 5, 2022 with the ability to begin negotiations 365 days prior.

  • United and IBT meet to discuss Maintenance Controllers Agreement

    The negotiating teams for United and for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) met Oct. 24–26 for the initial Maintenance Controllers Agreement. The discussions were productive and focused on Safety & Health, Transportation, Union Security & Representation, and the Grievance & Arbitration procedure. The parties are working to schedule additional sessions.

  • United technicians ratify joint collective bargaining agreement

    United Airlines announced today that the company’s technicians, represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), have voted to ratify a new joint collective bargaining agreement. With today’s announcement, United has reached new agreements with every domestic unionized work group in 2016.

  • IBT approves tentative agreement

    The International Brotherhood of Teamsters told us today that their negotiations committee has voted to approve the agreement in principle between the company and the union. We’re glad that our technicians will have the opportunity to vote for a new contract.

  • UA and IBT to meet with NMB, continue work on agreement in principle

    Last month, we jointly announced an agreement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for an industry-leading deal for technicians and related employees. So we were disappointed to hear from IBT today that their negotiations committee has voted against transitioning the language of the agreement in principle to a tentative agreement. Our agreement in principle with the IBT still stands, and we remain in mediated negotiations.

  • United and IBT reach agreement in principle for technicians

    United and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced jointly today that they have reached an agreement in principle for a joint contract covering the company’s approximately 9,000 technicians and related employees.
